These Chocolate Graduation Cap Treats are not only delicious but also a festive and creative way to celebrate any graduate's achievements. Check out the video below to see how to turn this easy recipe into an over-achieving DIY treat.
Ingredients:
- Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
- Chocolate squares (like Ghirardelli or similar)
- Chocolate for melting (can be chocolate chips or melting wafers)
- Mini M&M’s
- Sour candy belts, trimmed into 1 1/2-inch-long strips
- Lollipop sticks
Directions:
1. Prep the Ingredients
Start by unwrapping your Mini Reese's Cups and set them aside. Trim your sour candy belts into thin, 1 1/2-inch-long strips – these will serve as the tassels for the graduation caps. Lay out your chocolate squares and separate the mini M&Ms, choosing the colors you’d like for the cap tassels.
2. Melt the Chocolate
In a small, microwave-safe bowl, melt your chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until it’s completely smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to avoid scorching.
3. Assemble the Caps
Dip the bottom of a chocolate square into the melted chocolate and adhere it to the top of a Reese's Cup. This forms the main part of the graduation cap. Allow it to set slightly.
4. Attach the Tassel
Dip one end of the sour candy strip into the melted chocolate, and then attach it to the center of the chocolate square. Press a mini M&M (flat side down) over the spot where the candy strip meets the chocolate square, securing the tassel in place.
5. Final Touches
If you wish to make them into pops, carefully insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of each Reese's Cup, using a little melted chocolate to secure it. Let the assembled treats sit until the chocolate hardens and the caps are secure.
6. Chill and Serve
Place the completed graduation cap treats in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to ensure everything is set. Once chilled, they’re ready to be served and enjoyed!
