Reindeer Pretzel Rods How To

Chocolate-y pretzels for Dasher, Dancer and company!

You know Dasher and Dancer, and Prancer and Vixen! Bring them to life for your Christmas sweets table! These pretzel reindeer are as easy to make as they are to munch on. Dip pretzel rods in Candy Melts® Candy and decorate with Candy Eyeballs and Sixlets® round candies. Use them as a Christmas Eve craft for the little ones or set them out with hot chocolate for the late-night Santa watch.

Reindeer Pretzel Rods



  • Light Cocoa Candy Melts® Candy (12 oz. makes 46 to 48 treats)
  • Pretzel rods
  • Candy Eyeballs
  • Black Sixlets® round candies
  • Mini pretzel twists
  • Green apple Airheads® candy


  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Waxed or parchment paper
  • Cookie sheet
  • 12 in. Disposable Decorating Bags
  • Food-safe scissors
  • Knife
  • Plastic ruler
Dip pretzels

1) Dip pretzels

Melt light cocoa Candy Melts candy in microwave-safe bowl according to package directions. Dip pretzel rods halfway in melted light cocoa candy. Tap to smooth and remove excess candy. Place on parchment paper-covered cookie sheet. Chill until firm, about 10 to 15 minutes. Place remaining light cocoa candy in disposable decorating bag. Use scissors to cut small point off of bag.

Prepare trims

2) Prepare trims

For antlers, use knife to cut mini pretzel twists. For collar, use scissors to trim green apple Airheads candy to 1 3/4 in. x 1/4 in. Set aside.

Decorate pretzels

3) Decorate pretzels

Use melted candy to attach candy eyeballs and black Sixlet nose to pretzel. Chill until firm, about 3 to 5 minutes. Use melted candy to attach antlers to top of pretzel rod. Chill until firm, about 3 to 5 minutes.

Attach Collar

4) Attach Collar

Use melted candy to attach collar around pretzel rod. Chill until firm, about 3 to 5 minutes.
