How to Throw an Out-of-This-World Space Party!

If you're searching the galaxy for awesome outer space birthday party ideas, you've come to the right place. We are absolutely *over the moon* about this Blast Off! party theme, which lends itself to science-based activities and creative decoration ideas.

Watch this video from our friends at Playfull to learn how to create a totally stellar space party. Houston, we have a birthday!

Idea 1: Galactic Cupcakes

1. Add food coloring to white frosting to make royal blue. Aim for a 3:1 ratio of blue to red, and keep mixing until you reach your desired color.

2. Pipe the frosting onto plain cupcakes. Use colorful hard-shelled candies and silver star sprinkles to create your galaxy!

Idea 2: Fruit Rockets

1. Wash and cut cantaloupe, strawberries and bananas.

2. Slide fruit slices onto bamboo skewers.

3. Play with your food!

Idea 3: Galaxy Cookies

1. Divide royal icing into four bowls.

2. Add food gel to three of the bowls of royal icing. You will need a bowl of royal blue, light purple, and gray.

3. Pipe circles of each icing color onto your cookie. Alternate gray, purple and blue until you reach the center. Finish with a dollop of white royal icing in the middle.

4. Use a toothpick to swirl the colors together until you reach the desired galaxy effect. Add silver star sprinkles before the icing dries.

Idea 4: Create a "fuel up" snack station

Use small chalkboard stands to label each treat at your snack station with a space-themed name. Gum balls are meteorites, chocolate cereal puffs are asteroids, popped chips are moon rocks, fruity cereal circles are Saturn rings, and your juice of choice is rocket fuel.

Idea 5: Fizzy planets activity

1. In a bowl, mix 1 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup water. Mix well.

2. Split into three portions. Add orange food coloring to the first portion and yellow food coloring to the second.

3. Gently combine colors to create your planet.

4. Add drops of vinegar to your planet and watch it come alive!

Idea 6: Photo shoot time!

Create an easy space photo booth backdrop by hanging paper planets in front of a plain black background. Space-themed paper masks and astronaut helmets make fun photo booth props!
