Friendly Jack-o'-Lantern Cake
Ingredients:
  • Favorite cake recipe or mix (4 1/2 cups batter used)
  • Ready-to-Use Decorator Icing
  • Black Icing Color
  • Kelly Green Icing Color
  • Orange Icing Color
  • Starburst® Fruit Chews (yellow used)
  • Black gumballs
Supplies:
  • Pumpkin Tube Cake Pan
  • Cooling Grid
  • Food-safe scissors
  • Plastic ruler
  • 12 in. Cake Board Circles*
  • Fanci-Foil Wrap*
  • 9 in. Angled Spatula*
Follow Instructions
1) Make cake
Prepare 4 1/2 cups of batter, following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake. Position cake on foil-wrapped cake board, cut 2 in. larger than cake.
2) Decorate cake
Tint small amounts of buttercream icing black and kelly green; tint remaining icing orange. Use spatula and green icing to ice stem area smooth. Use spatula and orange icing to ice inside openings of eyes and nose and remaining cake areas smooth.
3) Add candy trims
For teeth, trim yellow Starburst candy to various sizes. Use spatula and orange icing to attach teeth around mouth, positioning teeth in center at a slight upward angle. Use spatula and icing to attach black gumballs to board in eye openings.
